I needed a part time job between college semesters, so I got hired with Costco as a stocker.
I’m a hard worker and I picked things up quickly. They were really short on help, so I was doing way more than what was expected.
But I let them know that I could not keep the same hours once school started, but I would be willing to work full weekends and a day or two on weekdays. They said no, they would have to let me go.
Fast forward to today, and after sweating my ass off from working so quickly in the coolers, I get called into the office and I’m told I’m fired. Because I called in two days when I was sick, something I was still dealing with (nasty cough and fever, was wearing a mask and coughing a lung up when they had me in the office).
They then preceded to give me a paper outlining how I didn’t qualify for unemployment but they wanted me to reapply because they liked how hard I worked.
Basically they fucked me so hard. I have three weeks until school starts, I have no idea what I’m going to do.
Fuck Costco.
