I work in a healthcare facility as a housekeeper, and I’ve trained the majority of the other housekeepers who work on different units of the building. One of my housekeepers “Ken” was getting bullied by nurses and such on Hallway X. My manger knows this and both me & ken have brought it up to her, more so me, mainly because people seem to view me as having more authority & responsibility (doesn’t mean i get paid more though :/). After a good while Ken told me he doesn’t feel comfortable cleaning up there anymore, and I said that’s okay just to tell our manager and if there’s any backlash to say it was my idea. He did that, yet my manager is still complaining about how Ken didn’t say anything about how he was getting bullied and how he should have grown a spine. Now one of my other housekeepers “Julie” went up to dear old hallway X to clean after about two weeks of it not being cleaned because they had a covid outbreak. Same thing happens, she was getting laughed at by the nurses.
Ive been yelled at for overstepping my bounds before because i know management doesn’t do anything, and they know i don’t have any real authority. Im just so incredibly angry that my coworkers are going through things like this because my manager thinks everyone should just grow a spine rather go to HR and file a report.
