I have been kept off work for four months on workmans comp injury and it looks like surgery is going to be the only option. My doctor said he would only clear me for remote work at this time as my job is very physical.
The company is very large with a corporate and production side with thousands of locations around North America. At my branch we only do production and sales with a small clerical department and both are outside jobs. I spoke to my human resource rep who happens to be at our corporate office and she is willing to give it a try as our corporate side has a lot of remote work positions that need to be filled and even though they require a degree she thinks it would be easier to train me for one of them than someone with no knowledge of how the company works. This is an opportunity that I would normally not have but due to a labor shortage and my injury I have the chance to make a decent living without breaking my back. The only problem is my immediate supervisor would have to give the greenlight for this to happen and he will not do it. He has stated to more than one of my coworkers that he believes that I have faked my injury and he is not going to help me get promoted. I spoke to our branch manager who is the last line in management before the corporate level and he has pretty much said it’s my immediate supervisors call and will not get involved. Not sure how to handle this as Both of these guys are standing in my path with a serious crabs in a bucket mentality. Need a battle plan
