Hello all,
I am currently a manager at a large fast food chain. I am the overnight manager, usually during the week, however I sometimes work the weekends.
My employees have brought to my attention some pretty serious misconduct, including assault, conducted by the managers who replace me while I'm off. We have brought this to those who would be responsible in dealing with this issue, but as of now, nothing still has been done.
My employees are abused, stressed, and overworked, and even today the opening manager who took over for me belittled my staff members because a little bit of prep wasn't done (This is to be completed by the opening manager as well). He said that they never do any work, and all they do is sit around all night Idle. He said this all while directly in front of them, and other employees. As it is now, we are not even able to take breaks because we are so overworked, but they still deduct pay for these breaks, even though they tell them during hiring that breaks are paid overnight. (I have something from payroll proving these theft of wages accusations)
As I said earlier, I have proof of serious misconduct, including assault, and my employees are even scared to come to work, and have told me they will be calling in sick unless me or the maintenance guy is there to keep an eye on them.
If anyone who specializes in labour law could give me some free advice, it would be much appreciated. I have considered phoning the local law offices, but I am pretty sure that I can't afford the legal fees, as I am barely making above minimum wage as an manager here.
Thanks everyone, and if you can prove that you are in fact a lawyer, employed by a trusted law firm, I would be willing to send the corresponding proof of this misconduct.
I am located in Canada, specifically Manitoba.
