D – Demonstrate Value
Essentially boils down to: do job interview and get job
E – Engage Physically
Go to work
N – Nurture Dependence
This is where it gets interesting. You should find a task or tasks that only you can or are willing to do, and do them consistently such that your boss starts to take it for granted, then it’s time for the next step
N – Neglect Emotionally
Stop doing the task, either by just not doing it because it isn’t in your job description, or quit, whatever is appropriate. This will make them realise just how much they need you, but your aren’t there so they get sad enough for step I
I – Inspire Hope
Offer to return to doing the task for a significant raise and do it
S – Separate Entirely
Use your new wage to leverage for an even better wage/position with a different company. You’ll likely get the best deal from your current employers biggest rivals
