I started a new dishwashing job at Chili’s and I honestly don’t think I can come in today after the ruckus yesterday. I’ve been a dishwasher at other places but it has never been this bad. They didn’t have a dishwasher all day so when I came in yesterday (my first official day with only one day of training) there were so many dishes that they had to bring carts to sit the dishes on. One server saw this and still asked me to empty out dishes for her even though that part is her job. I came in at 6:00 pm and left at 1:30 am and washed dishes, pots, and pans non stop with no break. I asked the manager for a break and he said you can do that when you’ve made a dent in the dishes. It was so bad my hands have horrible carpel tunnel. At the end I couldn’t even scrub the dishes because my hands were cramping, they couldn’t even extend. Even with those huge pile of dishes, more and more kept being brought out and I didn’t know where to put them. I really don’t want to come in today but idk how to quit. I felt like crying the entire shift. It’s like if you work extremely hard that doesn’t increase the pay you make hourly. I don’t know how I can do this I can’t believe they think that’s a one person job. I woke up today feeling so sick and sore all over. I can barely move.
