Okay for move, then fired?

I’m working from home. Three to four months ago I approached my boss about relocating. HR okayed my relocation, but said there would be a reduction in salary for my intended destination. Not great, but okay. Two months ago I move, out of my own pocket. No problems, my boss is happy with my work. Two weeks ago, my boss and HR sit down and agree on my new compensation, he went to bat and got them to not change it. Today I get a call saying my company does not provide health benefits for people in my location, and I have two options, move back, or get fired. Edit: I should include, I was very critical of them during a survey that was weighing our thoughts on how we would react to different compensation cuts.
