I'm a kitchen tech for a severely understaffed area so I'm on call every 3 weeks. I was on call(meaning a 8+hr shift saturday and sunday) memorial day weekend, then fourth of July weekend and this weekend, where I was also scheduled for 2 overnight(rare) in a row on top of being the after hours on call person. And next rotation I'll be on call for my birthday. I got called in for the overnight job early and my wife is furious because we had plans to see an out of state friend and now I can't. But I can't refuse because I'm supposed to already be available because I'm on call. I have very little work life balance and I really did like the job outside of this aspect. It's just not worth all this shit
