Miss a major milestone or lose the job

I’m getting hired onto this job which I took as a student because they offered low hours and a lot of down time during this particular job. I already went to one info session which they called an evaluation but really it was like a mini training, and it was unpaid. They next want me to go to another ‘evaluation’ which is paid this time and they said they’ll negotiate my rate until after this session is done. I just realized it fell on a major milestone for a friend of mine’s infant; she had invited me weeks ago and it’s the same day of this upcoming training. I emailed the recruiter about it and her response was a bit weird, she just said this was all that was available for the month and rescheduling would have to be in September, so I took that as an accommodation and thanked…

I just realized it fell on a major milestone for a friend of mine’s infant; she had invited me weeks ago and it’s the same day of this upcoming training.

I emailed the recruiter about it and her response was a bit weird, she just said this was all that was available for the month and rescheduling would have to be in September, so I took that as an accommodation and thanked her. Then she emailed back if I’m taking the job seriously she would recommend making it to the upcoming set date, the position might be filled before September. Taking the job seriously?? Sorry that I don’t care about some bland corporate training day more than enriching a personal relationship. How to respond? I don’t really need the job I just thought it’d be nice to have
