I feel like I work harder than most of my coworkers and I am getting burnt out. I finally got the balls to ask my boss for a raise and was told “if I give you a raise I’d have to give everyone a raise.” Do bosses not realize that we notice who does the majority of the work everyday? Since I’m gonna make the same as the people around me sitting on their phones, ignoring the phone when it rings, and doing the bare minimum regardless, I see no point in putting in the extra effort.
Might I also add that I am the only one with a degree in this field, and I am currently training a new supervisor for a position that I apparently wasn’t qualified for.
ETA: I was quite proud of the way I went about it and really thought it was gonna go in my favor :/ I asked if my boss and I could sit down for a performance review so that we could be on the same page about possibly getting a raise in the near future. At least I set myself apart by asking?
