So, I live in Wisconsin, and recently contracted Covid. I was told that my workplace had some Covid assistance that they could give me while I was home ill. (This was assistance provided to my company by the government. They were not giving me sick leave.) They then said that, while I was sick, they asked that I do “everything possible from home.” I said okay and started logging the hours I was working from home, but then I was contacted and told not to log the time I was working, just to continue working from home as much as I could while I received the government allocated Covid compensation.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like they are using the Covid relief funds to get me to work for them for free (It's no fun working with a high fever, but even less so when you realize you aren't being properly paid for it.) Is this legal? How would I go about claiming the money owed from the hours I worked while sick?
