Kenya is having national elections next week

Elections are synonymous with violence out here, really, the only peaceful one we've had was the first one. Fight for multiparty democracy was violent, we even once had a lineup voter system with a dictator. (Google Daniel arap Moi + Nyayo House) The 2002 one injured the most promising candidate & in 2007 Kofi Annan had to step in etc etc. You get the picture 🤷‍️ Now comes in a well know international law org that is asking (forcing) employees to come in for work. My friend's new boss is still in the prove yourself phase and has been chanting the whole week that no one will go out to vote. Maybe you don't get it: things get so violent around election time, everyone disaster prepares a month of groceries, locks in and hopes for the best.
