General confusion about NPR and the economy

Without trying to sound too much like Alex Jones, are we being gaslighted about the economy and the recession right now? Listening to NPR lately, I get the feeling they aren’t doing hard hitting journalism anymore so much as puff pieces in order to seem neutral. NPR, for the past few weeks, have been obsessively mentioning the economy and how we clearly “aren’t in a recession,” while interviewing economists who seem far removed from the average person.

The economists they interview boast about how low the unemployment rate is, about how many Americans have jobs right now, how they’re spending money on essentials (Duh), etc.

What’s confusing to me is that I know people working more than one job, and still not making ends meet. Just having a job doesn’t mean shit anymore.

Not to mention NPR doesn’t seem to address inflation the right way, as they keep claiming rising minimum wage and demand for products are the reason for inflation; not corporations making bank through deliberate price gouging?

But as an average citizen it’s infuriating to hear these things, as if they haven’t talked to a regular person in forever, or they just take whatever they’re told as is and leave it at that.

I don’t see any media addressing any of this? Is anyone bothering to learn the whole truth instead of being spoon-fed?
