I was laid off from a job that I had worked for almost 8 years. I have been involved with every major project of the branch, making the company millions. I was temporary production manager for three years with no extra pay but a lot of responsibilities, while they looked for a new one. I noticed my separation paperwork was adversarial, a lot of legal sounding stuff in it and there was a lot of stuff to sign it to get my severance package (HR manager had changed about 12-18 months before this). I had been laid off before from another job and barely any paperwork at all (I would later work a second time for that company). The one thing that hit me was the clause about disparaging reviews on job sites such as Glassdoor/Indeed/LinkedIn…etc. They had become aware over the last few years they were losing prospective employees due to bad reviews.
I could put up a critical review if it were based on supportable facts, but I got a much greater thrill watching their ratings go down as I removed one of the few positive reviews that no longer applied. Three stars…. oh no now it is 2.5. It has recently gone back up to 3 stars but that is management doing a hiring push and requiring all the middle managers put in great reviews at whatever position they are hiring for. Advice when looking at review sites check the dates. If all the positive reviews are clumped together it is manipulation especially if all the negatives seem randomly posted.
