Throwaway because my coworkers and boss found my main.
We work alternating weeks of 3 and 4 days, which means that we get 3 and 4 day weekends, but here's the catch: on 4 day weeks we work a mandatory 11.5 hours and on 3 day weeks we work a mandatory 12.5 hours. I trudged along with that 3/4 day weekend dangling like a carrot in front of my face, even though the schedule barely gives me barely enough time to eat and shower before I have to go to bed.
Then I went to training for a week. It was 6 days of 8 hour classes, and it was marvelous! I had time and energy after work to be the parent and husband I wanted to be! I had time to do chores and hobbies, and work out! Best of all was the consistency. I could set aside 20 minutes to run on the treadmill every day without huge variations in my schedule ruining everything.
I guess my point is, unless we abolish the 40 hour work week, a 4 day work week can be just as detrimental to mental health, if not moreso.
I started searching for 5day/8hr positions within my company.
