So small backstory. I've recently been working with a pet care company in Washington I like working with animals and I feel better helping people who need help caring for pets. A good example is I walk a few dogs at a nursing home for a couple of old ladies who can't walk very well.
Which comes to the issue I do have with this job and why I'm not mentioning the city to keep it secret. My boss. First off, he is one of the type of people who saids the right things but if you pry just a little deeper, you find out quickly how fuck up some his views are. Second off, he seems to be more worried about the money then safety.
What cause me to turn to reddit is that I recently got COVID. Even after taking all the precautions and being vaccinated, I still got it. As soon as I felt ill, I immediately alerted my boss that I may have COVID and I couldn't care for a couple of clients because they were high risk and the building had a temp reader to help prevent contagious.
His response: “Well, if I can't get any one to cover. Just say you ran really fast and that why you have a slight fever.” (The only symptom I had at the time.)
Luckily, cover was found but only for five days after I prove I was positive. And only with the nursery home. He still needed me to take care of some pets the owner on vacation. Out of worry for the pets, I took care of them and did all I could to keep it from being infection.
But as my five days are coming to an end soon and although I don't feel as bad, I still feel a little off. And seeing he was willing to risk exposure to nursing home, I feel if I say I'm still not able to care my nursing home clients due to risk of exposure he might fire me or cause me all kinds of grief. So, any way I can deal with this that keeps me and at risk people safe?
