So my wife just recently became promoted to COO of a homewares company.
The owner is a disgusting manipulative person who has dangled strings in front of her the entire seven years she has worked under him. Before her “promotion” she was doing every job in the business, as people would leave she would absorb their jobs. Never with much of a pay raise.
Fast forward to today, when she was promoted to COO of the company. The raise.

4000 £ a year. She now makes 34,000£ as COO. No contract. No increase in time off. No guaranteed bonus structure.
It is the height of manipulation, and I can’t seem to break her from this owners mastermind tactics. (They aren’t really)
I’m really trying to convince her to move to America where I know her skill set could be paid more lucratively, but she’s suckered into the “we’re a family” and “I believe in the business”
At this point I just hope the company goes belly up.
