I (18enby) have had the same job since I was 14. This is my fourth summer back.
The last few years I’ve worked with my best friend (17m), but he wasn’t invited back so I’m all alone this summer.
Last year I was doing some filing, and I got confused so I left it on my other boss’s desk and asked her if she could show me how to do it (my other boss is amazing and I primarily take orders from her). I was out sick for the rest of that week with COVID, and came back on Friday. I was immediately berated by my boss about how when he gives me an assignment he expects me to do it and not pass it off on someone who is already busy. I started crying, (at the time, my father had just left my family and I was in an intense place emotionally), other boss consoled me. That following week I got sat down by Boss and he told me that I can’t get away with that, and maybe “crying would’ve got a woman somewhere in the 1950s, but not now.” (I am AFAB). The weird comments continued on until I left for the season.
Today I came into work already off. My house has been tense and I’m just exhausted. I haven’t been in since last Monday. I sit down to start working on my assignment and Boss comes in, stands right over me and goes:
“Do you know your ABCs?”
“…yeah?”
“Well, it sure doesn’t seem like it. Talk to other boss about your filing.”
He laughed, and walked away. I’ve been crying in the bathroom since. Maybe I’m just over emotional, but this isn’t normal right?
Please tell me I’m not going to be subjected to this in all my future jobs. I cant take it.
