Should I give a two-weeks notice?

Hi there, I’m part-time based in the U.K., and currently working in a sushi restaurant. Everything has been alright, the managers are okay, and the job pays well enough. However, I’m going to grad school soon and I have to give my two-weeks notice to the store manager in writing (as directed by the contract) if and when I want to quit. My question is, should I actually give them notice? I’ve heard a lot of cases where managers straight up fire people the moment they give their notice. I don’t really mind losing two weeks of pay, but on the other hand the money would help to make next year a bit more bearable. Any advice? I’m pretty torn between the two options 🙁
