Tone deaf conversation from leadership about when to not have a work/life balance

In a meeting today, a lead encouraged the team to log off of work because he was getting responses to questions too late in the evening. Go live your life. Two members of leadership, 3rd and 5th from the top, chimed in. 5th from the top said said yes, buuuuut you really need to put in the extra hours for your work, at night, especially when you don't have a family, to get the extra experience in. 3rd from the top added that if you're near the end of a development item, it would really help to put in the extra hours at night during the last few days of the timeblock to get it done. Fascinating how a conversation about work/life balance desolved into leadership giving you examples of why you shouldn't have one.
