To my European friends that work in retail/customer facing roles. How bad is the treatment you receive from customers and management?

I'm asking you all this because for the most part we're aware of how bad retail can be in the United States, and I wanted to know how varied the treatment is for you all on a daily basis? Especially in countries that utilize social programs, and governance that has contributed to a higher level of happiness for the citizens in their respective country. I'd appreciate of you can give good examples fo your experience to help give perspective to us Americans.
