I work as a CNA for a nursing home. It’s a very well known chain of nursing homes throughout the Midwest. Not only is CNA work grueling, we do it all while being constantly understaffed and treated like trash.
The nursing home I work for sent out a bitchy memo about employee meals. It was brought to management’s attention that the dietary aides were giving out free meals to nursing assistants. This food would otherwise go in the trash after meals are served to the residents. They demanded that we pay for the meals (no employee discount by the way) even though it’s literally going in the garbage. How greedy can this company be? We don’t get paid shit. A lot of the people I work with are struggling and picking up extra shifts just to be able to pay for gas, and they demand we pay for the food about to be thrown out instead of boosting morale around here by giving away what’s left over. Fuck this place.
