Car broken into at work

So I recently started a job, decent job, hardly any complaints there. However last night my and several other cars were broken into. Nothing was stolen out of it, it’s just my window was busted. I asked my boss when and how my window would be replaced because there was no security and the car was behind a gated parking lot owned by the company. Come to find out this is the 3rd incident in less than a years time that this has happened, and neither time did the company pay or help pay for the damages. I feel like there was no sincerity to the situation, and was told that my window would not be getting paid for by the company. The situation was compared to me going to Walmart and that I would not expect Walmart to pay for a broken window if it happened in their parking lot. I DONT WORK FOR WALMART nor is Walmart gated!
This is having me rethink my career situation, I don’t like that they are not taking ownership in the situation nor showing empathy to employees that are working check to check and did not fit a broken window into the budget. Am I wrong for wanting them to pay? Are they not legally bound to help in some way? I want to email someone over my bosses head and let them know how I feel.
