I just didn’t answer the phone

I've worked in care for two years, been in a senior position for nearly one year… It has been hell, between covid and staff shortages. I really just wanted the promotion to get a bit more money per hour but the effort I'm putting in is minimal. It's sad because I know I'm a good carer, but I'm burnt out and broken down like so many of us, I feel like I can't leave but I want to but I don't know what to do instead. I don't want to work for someone else. I feel a bit guilty because the sector is struggling but so am I. I was on standby today to pick up any shifts that when down due to staff calling in sick. But I just ignored all the calls. And of course now they've sorted it. I'll have to deal with the manager on Monday…
