Currently I am a business student in college and for my minor I am taking a class that is based on criticizing capitalism. It’s quite an odd combination learning how capitalism is not the best system and then going to my next class and learning how to play the system for my benefit. One thing that has been clear in both classes is that capitalism isn’t sustainable. There are many situations when capitalism can no longer work on its own. The pandemic has been the most recent example with a massive number of buy outs given to massive companies. These companies are worth millions of dollars why do they need government funding to stay afloat? In capitalism you either are making money or losing money. All of these companies that received bailouts had no reserve money because they constantly invest their profits in risky endeavors. So instead of letting the economy collapse the government must bail these companies out and what do the companies do with this money? They give bonuses to the top executives, buy back their own shares and lay off their workers. All of this is allowed under the law since these same companies are paying the salaries of politicians to make sure the laws favor big corporations. I could go on in more detailed examples of the major flaws with capitalism, but I would really like to hear some counter arguments and just to have a discussion. Please private message me with your thoughts and i will do my best to get back to everyone.
