Antiwork

Found out that I have been skimped out of $5,000 over the past year alone of working, even more when I account for the 3 years prior.

I’ve (23F) been working at a CT restaurant for 4 years, I’m an unofficial manager – the owner is always around, so on paperwork I don’t have a “manager” title despite doing more work than he does. I recently (today) found out that the US has a federally mandated overtime law that my boss has NOT been paying me. Based on online calculators, my paychecks have been consistently $100+ short every week. For context I work anywhere between 50-65 hours a week. Over the past year, this is roughly $5,000 (based on $100/wk for 49 wks – the shop closes for 3 weeks vacation every year) I am beyond livid, and I feel incredibly used for my time. Is there a way for me to get this missing money from the several years I’ve worked here?? EDIT: also wondering how I start this conversation with my boss, who I know…

EDIT: also wondering how I start this conversation with my boss, who I know will be irritated with this conversation. I am definitely confronting him about this, Although I have no idea how to bring this up.
