Friends from work

TLDR; coworker friend only messaged me about covering their shifts for poorly planned vacations I got into this new job a bit over 4 months ago and got along with one of coworkers so we shared numbers. I got sick with the flu and my roommates got covid so I called out a couple times during my second month, my managers asked her to stay longer to cover for my absence. I’ve since taken them out to eat and drink on me as a thank you, and I have tried making time to be friends outside of work. But since then they have only messaged me about covering their shifts because they’re on an unplanned vacation and want to take longer to get back. despite our literal current conversation in making plans for coffee or shopping or something fun. I got into this new job a bit over 4 months ago and got along with one of coworkers so we shared numbers. I got sick with the flu and my roommates got covid so I called out a couple times during my second month, my managers asked her to stay longer to cover for my absence. I’ve since taken them out to eat and drink on me as a thank you, and I have tried making time to be friends outside of work.

But since then they have only messaged me about covering their shifts because they’re on an unplanned vacation and want to take longer to get back. despite our literal current conversation in making plans for coffee or shopping or something fun. This has happened a couple times since then.

I like being friends with my coworkers because it makes it more fun at work, but not when it only leads to them bringing up coverage when we talk.
