Don’t get me wrong, in a better society everyone who’s physically able to would contribute some way or other for their fellow people. I don’t expect or want to do nothing with my day and my life.
But really…the idea that if I don’t cashier for some shitty dollar store, wait tables for some restaurant, take orders for a fast food place, or in my case sit at a desk and sell shit to folk trying to just go about their day, suddenly that means I don’t deserve basics such as housing, food, heat, etc.
I literally have to work to just live, if I don’t I’ll go homeless and potentially starve and so would everyone else if they didn’t work. Hell this is the reality for folk who don’t work and even some who do but just don’t make a wage that’s enough to pay for basic necessities.
This society doesn’t value life at all. Human life has no value on its own apparently. Just what we can produce.
I’m about to switch to a job that will more than double my pay, but why should I even have to sell most of my waking hours on tedious soul sucking boring office work or any kind of work just to live??
There is no fixing this system, capitalism and America is functioning exactly as planned it just has no regards for people and life. No amount of compromising “reforms” from moderate liberal politicians will fix shit.
