Work as a college professor and have students tell you they don’t feel like studying because they don’t see the “real world applications” of the material…and how could you possibly disagree when the majority of the population reads only 1-2 books a year, if that, and knows very little about Science or History or Politics? I mean, I personally know a lot about History and Science…and what good has it done me? It tends to upset and anger people to explain facts to them in this country

Work as a manager in retail and try to apply leadership techniques you’ve learned in school and elsewhere and enforce even basic rules…it won’t often work because you’re going to be understaffed constantly and be dealing with poor, overworked, stressed out people who (understandably) want to do the bare minimum to keep their job
