I will soon be starting a 4 day working week, extending my hours to 10 a day instead of 8 with a 30 min unpaid lunch break.
I am a therapist and currently see 24 patients a week, which works out at 5 patients x 4 days and 4 patients x 1 day.
My new pattern would mean I do 6 patients x 4 days to meet my current workload.
However my boss wants me to do 7 patients a day on three days, which means my actual workload would increase a fair bit more than it is now… I did protest this and said how much that would increase admin and other extra work needed to support the patient e.g. writing letters and referrals. Their answer was just “try it and see how it goes, we can always drop it”. Kinda defeats the point of me trying to get a better work/life balance!
Does this sound fair? I know they said it won't necessarily be permanent, but still this doesn't seem right to me.
