Last week I volunteered for pride events in my country and we started at 10 until 11. We carried all of the pretty heavy staff to the shop tent, added them to the counters one by one, sold them whole day, chatted with people and unloaded them.
Other workers were also friendly and I definitelt felt solidarity too. We share meals, chatted whole day while waiting customers and we knew what to do!
At the end of the day my body was exhausted but I was mentally satisfied. I felt happy.
Now comparing this experience to my previous software engineer workplaces where we don't know what to do + office politics, it was less exhausting. I am sure that grass looks greener in the other side but I wished white collar jobs had more class solidarity in them…
