I think a friend of mine is about to get fired/reassigned

A friend of mine has worked for an insurance company for the past 10 years. She leads a team doing…insurancy things. Her team has always hit their goals, and my friend makes it a point to go to bat for them if she needs to. I guess without warning, her boss straight-up just fired 1/3 of her team, but then told my friend that she wants them to still keep their production the same. Additionally, she “offered” mandatory overtime to some other teams, but not my friend's. I told her that it's a pretty big red flag to do that, and that the reason her boss did that shit out of nowhere is because they want to fire the rest of the team ( one already resigned ), or, best case scenario is they get reassigned to another department. Am I wrong to think this?
