My favorite resident died and a petty coworker pretended she just didn’t know where she was all day.

I work in a Dementia ward at a nursing home, and residents die. That’s pretty much a fact of this job. But I was off for a few days and when I came back this morning I noticed my favorite resident wasn’t in her room. Move to me asking my coworker (who’s been here everyday since I left) what happened to her. She decides to tell me she doesn’t know where she went, maybe the hospital. I spend hours thinking this, and even texted the family some get well soon wishes for their mother. Queue my manger coming in, I ask about my residents hospital stay. I find out she’s passed away. Not only now am I heart broken, but I’m mortified of the text I sent and upset that this woman would lie to me. She’s upset I’m quitting because just me and her make 3 dollars less than…

She brought me the Alexa I gave her and a blanket my grandmother handmade for her.
“I don’t want it anymore”

I’m really debating not finishing my two weeks and just leaving but I don’t have a job lined up yet.

Just felt like I needed to get this out before I yell at someone.
