I’ve worked at this company for 5 years now and I might not of always liked the work but it was an easy enough job and it paid the bills, but in November of 2020 we were bought out by a big corporate auto dealership and things have just been going down hill. They switched our pay from hourly too flat rate (which if you don’t know it’s like a more complicated commission based off a set hourly rate) and if we didn’t agree we could leave. Our work load has near tripled, we’re treated like shit by the new management they brought in and when we complained about everything we were told “You need to change your mindset to better yourselves as people and employees.” Essentially telling us ‘we’re not the problem, you wanting better conditions is the problem.’ But the health insurance is really good and I’m making more money on flat rate so I stick around right?
About 4 months ago they force our manager out of his position into one that’s supposed to pay them half of what the department charges for that work and is industry standard (If the department charges $100 for the work he would get $50) but instead of paying him that like they said they would, they decided to instead pay flat rate for a fraction of the money.
Now 4 months later we have a new manager who has only been here a month and has been in our corner since day one and went toe to toe with other managers for the guys in our department and is a good guy. He’s now leaving because he was offered the job, by a friend of his mind you, for $5K a month. And they only paid him $2400, when he confronted his ‘friend’ about it he got told “That’s what you signed on for” so he’s done. I hope this company chokes on its own greed, but seeing how big it is I highly doubt that is going to happen. I’m so sick of this place and I’m done with it, looking for a new job tonight when I get home
