Got walked out after submitting my 30 Day notice of resignation.

We recently got new management, I’ve been with this company for 3 years next week. I have never been in any sort of trouble until last month. Since then I’ve been written up three times over nothing. I was in management at a healthcare facility, part of my job is to adjust my own hours to ensure that my responsibilities are taken care of. Apparently that’s not okay anymore, even though it’s in my job description and had never been an issue before as long as I got my 40 hours in and didn’t go unreasonably over 40 without justification. One thing that really got me, is last Friday I was written up for it, and during our meeting, my boss told me that she doesn’t hold any of the department heads to a strict start time because we have to adjust our hours to meet needs. I came in late Monday in order to perform a task that I needed to do on second shift to be in compliance with State regulations. She called me two hours after I got there and in a very condescending tone asked me if she “missed the memo that I was going to be late.” When I mentioned our previous conversation, she told me that we are all expected to be there for morning meeting which starts a 9am. To me, that sounds like a strict start time. After a number of completely unsubstantiated accusations that I disproved in front of her and a witness (my corporate support) she continued to berate me and tell me that I’m not doing my job correctly. I have been in this field for six years and have NEVER gotten a deficiency on our annual state survey. The last survey in November, I was the only department to not get a deficiency. So I signed her write up, and asked her and my corporate support to remain in the office for a moment. I went and got the 30 day notice of resignation that I had typed and printed on Monday when she was rude to me out of my desk drawer, I signed it, dated it and placed it on her desk. They did not accept it. An hour later they called me in to the office, told me that they accept my letter of resignation, and that today would be my last day working there. She then proceeded to escort me to my office to gather my belongings and then walked me out of the building. I did everything right, by the book, according to policy, and this is the treatment I’ve received.

The upside is that since she accepted it, they will pay me for the next 30 days, and I’ll retain my health insurance for the next 30 days as well. I made sure to get this in writing before I left.

Corporate America sucks.
