All this BS going around avout “quiet quitting.” I’ve seen a few posts and comments that come back at it, so I thought I’d add.
If we’re getting called out for “quiet quitting,” then employers need to be called out for “quiet firing.” Decisions that make a job untenable: salary freezes, layoffs, gutting staffing, eliminating positions, closing locations, forced transfers, changing your job’s reaponsibilities, etc.
My company closed a lot of its locations as part of a merger with another company. Then they eliminated several job families—including my own—and forced a lot of us into positions that didn’t match our strengths/interests and had no real upward mobility for us based on our skillsets. It was a demotion for me. I had liked my job very much until all this happened.
A lot of my good friends at the company left, and I’m one of the last to go. I start a new job Monday after a former colleague reached out to me a few weeks back. It’s a promotion for me (even from the old position I liked), higher pay, better work/life balance, and better suited to my strengths/interests.
You can’t quiet fire me! I quit!
