File this under crazy idea or not….
Say a person with a valuable skill set is thinking of retiring but isn't quite ready to just walk away and felt going part time would be a good way to transition out, both for him and the company. This would involve a flexible schedule and going to hourly pay. Since going part time would mean no benefits, this would be a savings to the company of 30% or more. Would it be crazy for the employee to ask to share in that savings, say with a 20% raise?
