Unusual pay scale

I work in a job that I mostly really like and from the beginning my only issue was salary; it has continued to be my biggest problem with the company (as I am highly educated and qualified and successful in working on the two largest clients' accounts). I found out that the person working with me on one of those who is one position above me gets paid about twice as much as me (and the person one step above her gets another $100k more than that). These seem like unusually large jumps up the salary scale for just going one position up at a time and reinforce how low my salary is here at the bottom despite my value added. I finally did say something to a high up boss and was told the performance review will be in Q4…meanwhile someone else from my role just got a promotion…

I am just so emotionally drained and while I feel supported by my coworkers, I feel that the higher up ppl are either too rich or too old to understand how underpaid I am (and of course the HR person is not doing anything about it) despite many ppl leaving since I started.
Ugh. Argh
