This week in my city we had some dangerous winter weather come in early Wednesday morning. About half the workers showed up including me, but we were sent home after 45 minutes. Those who didn’t show up will still get paid since the day was cancelled.
Thursday the roads were still bad but since we weren’t told the day was cancelled, I drove in. Only 5 workers showed up. After an hour, we were sent home. The day was cancelled again and everyone will get paid, but we were told by text message that all workers will be required to work Friday as a make up day (normally Fridays are off).
Friday. Once again only 5 people show up. We work the whole day and work our asses off. Is it fair that all those people who didn’t show up will still get paid? The few of us that came in got a -pizza- but is that really a reward for risking your life on dangerous roads for a job? Should we get something extra? Not even a thank you.
