This will not be a typical thread. This is a win in my opinion for this movement. To back up, back in April 2021, I accepted a job for a conglomerate company, who’s sub company was hiring sales representatives to sell water brands within a territory.
With less than a week until my first day, I’m laid off plus 29 other people because a contract fell through. I’m without work. I have a family, a new born daughter. It’s a shitty situation. I’m unemployed for 3.5 months. I start interviewing in July 2021, and by beginning of August, I have two job offers. A director of sales position for a small craft beverage company, and a remote sales position for a data company.
The Data company is owned by the same company that laid me off in April. I decide to take both and knowingly not work the Data job. I figured I could get 2-3 weeks paid before I’m fired. I literally collected a check every two weeks from August to yesterday. I got fired yesterday when my boss finally “discovered” I hadn’t done any work in months. I had literally not worked a second in months.
My salary was $45k annually, so we were able to use all the extra influx of money to change our lives for the better.
