I recently checked out a local business in my hometown of which I personally know the owners.
The couple owns a well-known Midwest fast food franchise. At the height of the pandemic they shut their lobby and kept the drive-thru open and I recall a conversation with the owner where she stated that they haven’t noticed a slump in sales because of having to do so. These owners recently built a $650k home on a river, brand new GMC Denali vehicles every year, bragged how their new lawn mower was $19k, and these people received $146k in PPP government loans with the reason being “payroll”.
I would bet my year’s salary that not one employee that works for them has gotten a raise since the pandemic and these people get $146k of a forgivable loan for “payroll.”
