WORD IS NOT BOND. I want to put my head through a window. My current employer pulled a traditional bait and switch. “Well we have a 90 day probationary period, since you have so much experience we’ll start you at 20/hr and do 30 days and then match your current pay.” I left a job that was paying 25, due for a 2 dollar raise in a few months, for this. My reason for leaving was time theft though. My check was short every week, they always fixed it but getting shit out of my 10 hours of overtime after working 60 a week is enough to piss me off when it’s every week. It was also a terrible company cutting a hundred corners with no accountability, I won’t even add them to my resume as I’d be ashamed for someone to see that site and associate my work with it.
When I was hired I saw in my sign in papers “this contract is legally binding and supersedes all previous agreements written or verbal” I called the owner and he assured me it’s just a formality. I knew better but already quit the other gig. First week was fine but the mark on productivity. Second week our tools started fucking up, causing our finishes to be spotty. The lat guy didn’t take care of them. Manager wouldn’t replace it and said figure it out. Caused productivity to fall. Next two weeks straight they were flat out OUT of paint and did not get more until my 28th day. Obviously we fell massively behind. I waited another week and put in 14 hour days and weekends ( I was promised no mandatory it or weekends) to catch up. Still denied my raise.l like it’s my fucking fault.
Over the past two years I’ve dealt with so much shit. Tax fraud (filed 1099 when I was w2) where the employer extorted me, refusing to give me my tax info for medical reasons. I needed indigent care and couldn’t prove I worked or lived in the state without it. He stuffed me with 18k in medical debt so he could dodge his taxes. The. The next employer stole hundreds in unpaid overtime. And now this.
