I get approached by recruiters all the time, I ask for past employee references and big money.

I work in a subset of IT project management that's really growing right now. I'm really happy with my current employer & see myself staying long term. But man, having my job title (or working at my employer) you get bombarded with recruiters and other companies trying to poach you. I now always say if they want to take the enquiry further they need to tell me the salary up front, and anything under $200k I tell them they need to get north of that to be considered. I also ask for 3 references of past employees so I can do my due diligence on the quality and culture of the company.

It's so funny to see the general shock and reactions because a lot of these recruiters come to you and ask you to apply through their whole recruiting process. And how many genuinely don't think they should have to tell me what the salary would be for me to jump ship. Especially some of these guys cold call me how stunned they are that someone could ask for that is amazing.

I'm thinking about taking it a step further and creating a form for them to fill out to apply for my services.

If you're like me where you actually enjoy your current job and get spammed on linked in, I encourage you to do the same to shift employer expectations & help all future recruits.
