About to be laid off and then blocked from working in same field

EDIT: Sorry I'm dumb and formatted the original bad so I'm reposting. I work for a company that is moving states and being laid off at the end of the month. I work for a company that is moving states and being laid off at the end of the month. Due to a non compete though I feel like I'm now blocked from working in the same industry for another company.

I expressed interest in travel for the current company but I feel like they kept us in the dark and after trying for a few months they finally say they didn't have a position for me. I then found a new company is about to start the same thing and I even interviewed with them and felt confident I would get the job but after reviewing my paperwork looks like I am on a non compete for 2 years.

I understand not wanting to possibly have company info leak to a competitor but I feel like now I can't even work in the industry which so far has been a dream job.

Has anyone felt with this before? I heard it is very hard to do anything on a nda but I signed before the company got bought out (which is why they're moving).
I see a clause I can get writing to absolve it but I'm afraid to persue that route as I have bonus if I work til the end and don't want to get let go prior if I make a stink about the NDA.
