The job was for a nursing home. Front desk position. It was advertised as receptionist and answering calls. Interview was over the phone.
I went in my first day to orientation and my new supervisor told me my trainer wasn't available. She said she really didn't know what to do since she was only a supervisor because the head of HR just walked out last week.
She tells me to “just go sit at the front desk and job shadow”. I then meet another receptionist who is very unhappy that she has to share her time/space with me. She doesn't want to train and it's obvious. My supervisor tells her to tell the CEO she “left hours ago” but really is “going to hide” in her office.
The CEO of this small nursing home then screams my name from a balcony above. This was pretty unnerving and my new trainer basically says “he does that all the time”. He asks me in a loud tone where I'm from and a few other personal questions right in front of everyone sitting in the lobby, startling some older people awake. He couldn't be bothered to come down one floor and talk.
My supervisor runs out of the building and says “you two never saw me leave”.
I was never told a time to go home so I lied and said to my trainer the supervisor said to leave after an hour. She seemed relieved and overall I worked at the company for two hours. They have called me every day for the past 5 days since they never gave me a real schedule and my supervisor never told me when to come back. So, I'm not going back.
Also, the pay was $13 an hour no benefits.
