So long story short, I've been up for 4 promotions in the last 2 years and have been denied all of them with one still in the deciding stages. I was told that an email I sent to our manager asking for the “company to honor it's word and truly put employees first. [Company] should be a leader in our field and should be an example for others to follow.”
The meat of it was a call for raises, vertical mobility, clarity and transparency, policy changes, dedicated resource budgets, and understanding for the employees needs. Nothing “anti-company” and in fact me believing that this company could be a shining example for others to follow and can grow if they just gave that extra little bit of consideration to employees.
But concerns were brought up that I would be “a bad example for new employees and am unfit for a leadership role.”
So I'm a bad example for advocating for my coworkers and calling for a more clear growth plan and advocating for the growth of the company? Make this make sense to my trickle up economics brain.
