And I am lucky enough where I get to apply to remote/hybrid jobs (I am NOT working in the office for 8+ hours a day 5 days a week anymore, but that's another rant)… but this fake culture of essentially sucking off the recruiter/hiring manager, fake laughing at every shitty response, and selling yourself is so exhausting. Don't get me wrong, having a good elevation pitch is great, but when every job requires you to “give it your 200% and do more work than the manager asks and come up with your own solutions” it is EXHAUSTING.
“So tell me, do you think you are over-qualified or under-qualified for this role?” What the fuck kind of question is this – you have to know at this point I will not answer any question you give me truthfully, I will just say whatever you want to hear so you can give me a job. Passionate about business analysis and Salesforce?? Of course, I absolutely love it!!! /s
No, I do not want to make my life revolve around work and go the extra mile for you. What incentive do I have? NO, I don't give a shit about the mission statement of your IT company – I just want a job, with normal hours, decent pay, not having to commute an hour every day (shoutout WFH), and a normal manager so I can have time for my friends and pursuing my hobbies that I care about (like depressing comedy open mics).
Anywhoo, interviewing is exhausting and I just want a simple job that gives me the money I need and enough time to do things that actually satisfy me. End rant / would love to hear everyone's experiences around interviewing (and any tips too tbh)
