This is me just ranting so you can ignore

Context: I work in a hospital at the bedside. Unfortunately because hospitals are open 24/7 there are unlikeable shifts that need to be filled. I'm on nights and have no problem with it since I'm young with no kids or have super serious responsibilities. We also work every 3rd weekend and our weekend shifts are with the same people and I mostly love the group I work with. Our boss tends to play favorites. There's a co worker who switches every 3 months on days and night shifts and when he is on night shift he works our weekend. Our weekend is also very well staffed so she will ask him to come off the weekend and work other days and of course he says yes. There are a couple other moms on our weekend and it can get frustrating when she only asks the one co worker and no…

There are a couple other moms on our weekend and it can get frustrating when she only asks the one co worker and no one else. I can't even remember the last time he worked a weekend with us on night shift. It also doesn't help that my co worker doesn't shut up about getting off the weekend. He constantly brings it up and it can get under people's skin.

Last year was a crappy year for our weekend. We worked both mothers day and fathers day and a couple other weekends where it was a holiday weekend. Guess who didn't have to work mothers day or fathers day?? Yes the one co worker. I 100% think we all have a reason to want off that day even if we dont have kids, but i can't help but feel bad for the moms that work that weekend, and for one of my co workers it was her first mothers day and our boss didn't even ask if she wanted that weekend off.

It's getting more and more obvious she is playing favorites and unfortunately for the one co worker people are feeling a bit resentful. I'm trying to keep my eyes on the prize that this is still 100% a manager issue and she is causing all of these issues.

But wouldn't you know, I woke up to a text this morning with my weekend group and my boss with her asking one of us to switch and work a short weekend that happens to fall on mothers day again. Everyone said no of course. I'm just anticipating her moving me and it's making me anxious because if she does I'm going to be pissed.

This weekend has been short for months now and my boss has had the opportunity to put people to that weekend permanently so it's staffed but they haven't. Maybe she is waiting for the new grads to come in and eventually fill in the spot, but that's still ridiculous. Now she is scrambling to get that weekend filled in and I'll be damned if I am collateral for her mistake. This all just happened today so hopefully another person on a weekend group will volunteer to work that night and all will be fine.
