Me – me
Coworker – C
For context, I am a part-time employee and have been for two years as I'm currently in college. I still don't find this to be a valid reason, if it is the reason, for me not receiving a raise in my pay. My coworker makes a little bit more than I do, but he's full-time, and he's been there a few months longer than I have.
Recently, a new employee came into our department, and he's an objectively good worker, but he's still learning. The topic of wages came up, and it turns out he makes the same as my coworker that's been there two years AND is full-time. Of course, C and I were both upset about this and went to our boss about receiving more pay, and he was also upset because he didn't even know. He went to HIS boss, and apparently, he was going to try and get us a raise for our entire department. That was also after C threatened to quit, and I mulled over the idea of leaving. It's just frustrating that we have to cause a commotion and threaten to quit instead of getting the money we deserve to get a raise. It's even worse that there are people that work at our company that have been here for about 10-20 years and C and I either make the same or more than them.
(Also, our super cool boss got C and me a “bonus” on our next paycheck to at least have something before an increase in pay is worked out)
