I work from home for a large corporation. I’ve been there for a year, but my coworker, who is at the same level as me, has been there for around five years.
Everyday his employees are coming to me, asking for help, because he is ignoring them. I always help them and I inform my boss of this.
My coworker is always rude to me, rarely talks at meetings, if they even bother attending them. He always criticizes or belittles me. It’s noticed by others how they treat me, and again, I inform my boss.
Now we have to have a meeting listing things we value about each other and things we do not. We also have to list things that make the workplace better and things we’d like to see them do to make it better.
I’m having a really hard time of thinking of anything positive to say. I am also trying to be cautious with what I say that is negative as I don’t want to come across as whiney.
I don’t think this will go well. I foresee him tearing into me. I’m a very sensitive person and not confrontational at all.
I always am very involved in meetings held, tasks that need to be completed, etc. I work hard making sure I do my job well and take care of my employees.
Have any of you ever had to do this type of meeting before? How did it turn out? Is there any advice anyone has for me?
